Denial of the Problem

The road leading to recovery has many roadblocks. First of all, the very nature of the disease of addiction tells the affected person that they are not inflicted. Denial is the hallmark symptom of alcoholism and other forms of addiction. Guess what? People that are not alcoholic never try to convince themselves or others that they are not alcoholic. So, when a person knows and admits that they need help to stop and stay stopped, hallelujah! Because many addicts never make it that far. They fill the obituaries, prison halls and psych wards.

This is a fairly unconventional and new concept, but it does work if the person is ready for recovery and simply can not get away to rehab treatment.
